Kenyan President William Ruto has announced the cancellation of business deals with India's prominent Adani Group, following criminal charges filed against its chairman, Gautam Adani, in the United States. This includes the deal granting the group control over Kenya's central airport and several energy-related contracts.

In a national address, President Ruto stated that the decision to terminate the agreements was based on new information provided by investigative agencies and partner nations. He directed Kenya's Ministry of Transport, Energy, and Petroleum agencies to immediately suspend ongoing procurement activities with the Adani Group.

The deal would have granted the Adani Group the rights to operate the airport for 30 years in exchange for building an additional runway and terminal. The agreement had faced significant criticism, with protests and strikes by airport staff opposing it.
